How do I use Echo Mode?

Echo Mode allows precision programmed moves between points (key frames). You can either set your own points (A-B) or use the pre-programmed moves. Just tap the Path indicator at the top of the screen to cycle through the options.

A-B Path

If you want to set your own A-B points, just tap through the Path options until you get to A-B. Check out the video below the instructions!

1. Set your A point:

  • If you are holding the Movi instead of setting it down, just point the Movi where you want the frame to be (it’s in Majestic Mode) and squeeze the lower trigger when you have the first shot framed up. You can move pan (left and right), tilt (looking up and down) and roll (horizon, if unlocked at the top of the screen). Once you’ve successfully set your A point, the screen will tell you to set your B point.
  • If you set the Movi down or mounted it for this shot, just physically move the phone to line up your shot (you won’t hurt it). You can move pan (left and right), tilt (looking up and down) and roll (horizon, if unlocked at the top of the screen). While still holding the frame you want, squeeze the lower trigger to set the A point. Once you’ve successfully set your A point, the screen will tell you to Set B.

2. Set your B point:

  • Repeat the process in step 1, but frame the last shot of your move.
  • After you set your B point, the screen will flash “Ready” and give you on screen options for “Reset” and “Preview”.
    • Reset will erase your A-B points, so you can start fresh with new points.
    • Preview will show you a 3 second preview of the move, from A to B

3. Set your Duration.

  • Target Clip Length is how long you want the Movi to take, moving from A to B. Just swipe up or down on the time to increase or decrease the time (from 1 second to 2 minutes).

4. Record Camera & Hit Trigger

  • Squeeze the top trigger to start recording and the bottom trigger to start motion.
  • After the move finishes, you can stop the recording with the top trigger or on screen.
  • You will have two options on screen, “Reset” and “Back to A”
    • Reset will erase your A and B points, so you can start fresh with a new move.
    • Back to A will let you repeat the move, starting from your A Point.

Preset Path

To make things easy, we included some preset moves for Echo! See video demo below instructions!

1. Choose from the presets in the top menu:

  • Just tap the Path indicator to select your direct of camera movement (Left, Right, Up & Down).

2. Set your Duration:

  • Target Clip Length is how long you want the Movi to take, moving from A to B. Just swipe up or down on the time to increase or decrease the time (from 1 second to 2 minutes).
  • Squeeze the lower trigger to confirm the settings. You will see “Ready” on screen.

3. Record Camera & Hit Trigger

  • Squeeze the top trigger to start recording and the bottom trigger to start motion.
  • After the move finishes, you can squeeze the lower trigger to reset the move.

Pro-tips

  • At any time during a move (A-B or preset) you can squeeze the lower trigger to stop the move. It will show complete and give you whatever options are available after a completed move.
  • You can change the behavior of Movi after the move is finished. In the Movi menu: Robot>Echo/Timelapse.
    • Hold B Point is default. Once the motion stops, it will stay on the B point frame until you either “Reset” or “Return to A.”
    • Return will set the phone back to center framing, waiting for input to “Reset” or “Return to A.”
  • If you are getting “Couldn’t start motion” popup, this is most likely due to not having the latest firmware with the latest app. Simply ensure your firmware is up to date from Settings > App (gear icon) > Updates > Robot
