Astro SB012 – Astro Software v2.1.13 addresses Service Bulletins SB010 and SB011
Date Released: September 10, 2025
Subject: Astro Software v2.1.13 addresses Service Bulletins
Effectivity: Immediate
Required Action: Urgent – Aircraft should be firmware updated
Affected Part Numbers: All Astro
BACKGROUND
Freefly has released two service bulletins in August 2025 to notify pilots of safety risks with existing flight software. Specifically:
Astro Software v2.1.13 is now released to address these service bulletins. Astro Release Notes can be found at https://freeflysystems.com/astroversions.
RECOMMENDATION
Aircraft should be updated to latest firmware immediately.
- Follow these instructions to update Astro Software.
- Follow these instructions to update Pilot Pro App, Firmware and AMC.
- If flying with RTK or NTRIP, follow the instructions in the next section.
KNOWN ISSUE
RTK/NTRIP bursts can briefly drop GPS-assisted modes. Sudden, buffered RTCM corrections can delay GNSS processing for a few seconds, temporarily exiting Position/Auto/RTL.
Applies to: all currently released firmware, only when RTK or NTRIP is being used.
Mitigations:
- If you need RTK/NTRIP: set GPS_DUMP_COMM = Disabled (0)in AMC in advanced mode → Parameters. This limits GPS output so correction bursts cannot overrun processing. Note: while set to Disabled, PPK workflows are unavailable—restore this parameter to default when you need PPK.
- Status: Fix in progress for a follow-up patch.
