Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Case Foam & Packaging Technician to support the manufacturing and delivery of in-house case foam packaging. This role involves hands-on work with CNC routing and CAM software, along with assembly tasks. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, has strong organizational skills, and can communicate effectively with engineering, supply chain, and production teams while working under guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate CNC routers to cut case foam according to provided specifications and programs.
- Assist in using CAM software to generate or modify toolpaths (Fusion 360 experience is a plus).
- Assemble foam components using adhesives and other fastening methods.
- Contribute to the foam packaging process, from raw stock preparation to final delivery of finished cases.
- Provide feedback on manufacturability to help engineering improve designs.
- Assist in setting up job workflows for new projects.
- Support coordination with the supply chain team on material needs and procurement timing.
- Help maintain clear communication with production regarding packaging schedules and requirements.
- Keep workspace clean and organized, following Freefly quality standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Some hands-on experience with CNC machining, ideally on a router (training available for the right candidate).
- Basic familiarity with CAM software; Fusion 360 experience is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience or willingness to learn assembly and adhesive bonding techniques.
- Good problem-solving skills with an interest in learning Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
- Solid organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work both independently on routine tasks and collaboratively under supervision.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to packaging design or manufacturing processes.
- Bonus if you have basic understanding of material properties, especially foams and adhesives.
- Experience in a production or manufacturing setting.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a shop or production floor environment.

Compensation
- $40-55K year/DOE.
