Mōvi Cinema Gimbal Ecosystem – Sunset Notice
Product Sunset & Service Timeline
This is a hard one for us to write.
We’ve always seen the world differently. We started with the M10 in 2013 with the goal to remove the traditional boundaries of camera movement. Next came the M5 and M15 in 2014. Following in their groundbreaking footsteps, the Mōvi Pro came out in 2016, and then Mōvi Carbon and Mōvi XL in 2017.
After nearly 10 years of building the Mōvi Pro platform with the cinema community guiding us, and holding out for as long as possible, we are sad to announce the discontinuation of our Cinema Gimbal ecosystem.
- Mōvi Pro
- Mōvi XL
- Mōvi Carbon
- Mōvi Controller
- Mōvi Wheels
These tools helped redefine how cameras move. More importantly, they became part of the craft for an entire generation of operators. We’ve had a front-row seat to the work you’ve created with them, and it’s something we’re deeply proud of.
Key Dates
- April 12th, 2026 — Final day to purchase new Mōvi systems from Freefly

Our Commitment to You
Between now and the end-of-service dates, nothing is changing in how we support these systems or our customers.
We will continue to provide:
- Full service and repair support
- Spare parts
- Technical support
And even after formal service ends, we will continue to support Mōvi owners with parts and troubleshooting for as long as we possibly can.
If you’ve been with us since the early days, you’ve seen this firsthand—we’re still helping customers keep legacy M-Series and Alta systems running well beyond their official service life. That same mindset carries forward here.
Why This Change
The landscape around camera stabilization has changed.
Smaller, lighter camera systems—and the tools built around them—now dominate much of the industry. That space is well served, often at price points and manufacturing models that don’t align with how we build products.
At the same time, our work in cinema hasn’t stopped, it’s shifted.
With Ember, we’re continuing to push the boundaries of what’s possible in high-performance imaging.
We’ve seen enormous momentum in another area: industrial drones.
We’re not going anywhere, but we are refocusing our energy.
Everything we learned building tools for the most demanding operators in cinema—precision, reliability, control—is now being applied across Ember and into a rapidly growing industrial drone market in the U.S. and around the world. That’s where we believe we can have the biggest impact moving forward.
Thank You
Mōvi has always been more than a product line to us.
It’s been late nights, early prototypes, on-set problem solving, and years of collaboration with some of the most talented crews in the world.
We’re incredibly grateful to have been a part of that.
If you have questions about your system, service timelines, or support, our team is here and will continue to be here to help you succeed.
